Understandš¤
- All the questions in the Anatomy station are allocated to the Clinical Knowledge domain
- There is an average of 15-18Q / Station
- There are 3 types of questions
- Identify: The examiner will ask you to find an anatomical structure on a diagram
- Name: The examiner will point to an anatomical structure on a diagram and ask you to name it
- SAQ: The examiner will ask you clear questions expecting an answer in 1 sentence.
Mistakes weāve seen š±
- Candidates spending too long answering the first 3-4 questions, the bell rings and they move to the next station thinking they did amazingly well ā Each question should take 20-30 sec
- you are allowed an analog watch in your exam
- Spending too long thinking about one question and not finishing the station ā Ask the examiner to skip this question then go back to it at the end if you have the time
- Forgetting to mention the side (Left, Right) ā Please donāt
- Candidate using abbreviations (SMA for Superior Mesenteric artery) ā Also please donāt
How to clear a station you have not prepared š
- The first 4-5 questions are usually the easiest, so finish them quickly to allow more time to think about the difficult questions.
- Multiple attempts are allowed ā if you say an answer and you think itās wrong, youāre allowed to change it
- Think clinically ā Most MRCS Part B are Applied Knowledge questions, (eg if youāre asked about a nerve in the wrist, itās likely the median nerve for carpal tunnel syndrome)
